This is my music teacher I Nyoman Warsa. He made these beautiful instruments for me in 1998. They now reside with me here in Forestville. Because the notes are bamboo, they're very delicate and sensitive to changes in weather. They like it hot and humid and "speak" better in their natural habitat. Nonetheless, they have a captivating sound and are soothing to the soul. Warsa is a great musician,. His group plays gender music for the Wayang Kulit or Shadow Puppet play several nights a week in Ubud. He's also an accomplished drummer and suling (bamboo flute) player. He owns two bamboo shops, one in Ubud and one in Nu Kuning.
